The snail is west of town, under the stone span in the river.

Start Moon in the Man through Locked Out

Hyrum asks you to enter his locked house and remove the intruder. The front door requires Lockpicking 60 in the observed build, but you do not need that skill to continue.

1. Pass the tavern and alchemist, then follow the wooden bridges to Hyrum.
2. Use the nearby ruined house and climb the hill behind it.
3. Drop through Hyrum's chimney and move away from the fire.
4. Take the house key from the table and open the front door.
5. Speak to the moon-faced intruder to add Moon in the Man.

Get charcoal and a blank tome

• CharcoalSearch barrels and crates in town. For a dependable fallback, visit the charcoal burner south of town, behind the mountain, and collect charcoal beside the fire.
• Blank tomeComplete Theodorus's early magic quest for a tome, buy one after that quest, or take the tome on the crate behind him. His home is left after passing through the tavern from the main street.

Return to the intruder with both items. He explains that a snail near the Tower drain stole his voice and sends you to kill it.

Where to find the Voice of Reason snail

1. Leave Magdal's Rest through the western exit.
2. Keep right after the exit and pass between the rocks.
3. Head toward the prominent tree, then descend into the canyon.
4. Enter the river and move beneath the bridge-like stone span.
5. Kill the named snail Voice of Reason.

Slimes occupy the river route, so a low-level character can run past them instead of clearing the canyon. The target is the named snail under the span, not any ordinary snail elsewhere on the island.

Find Chi'Alani after the voice returns

Return to the moon-faced man after killing Voice of Reason. Once he can speak, he sends you to Chi'Alani for help with the curse.

1. Go to the market square in Magdal's Rest.
2. Find the staircase between the tavern and the shop.
3. Climb to the hut and enter its second floor.

Chi'Alani cannot remove the curse herself. She directs you to a transformation-magic hermit named Detta.

Recover Detta's journal on the southern island

1. Travel to the far southern beach.
2. Follow the shoreline to a small offshore island.
3. Use the nearby island with magical towers as a distant landmark.
4. At the camp, take the journal from the stool beside the fire.

Detta's body may not be in the same place between saves, but the journal is the quest item. Return it to the moon-faced man to lift the curse and finish both Moon in the Man and Locked Out.

If dialogue or objectives do not advance

Update 8 corrected a dialogue-event order problem in Locked Out. Install Update 8 or later before replaying the conversation or following launch-week instructions.
