Alchemy guide
Potion effects stack, and discovered effects now stay visible.
Alchemy is available in Early Access. In the current version, matching crafted potions stack in your inventory, potion effects stack correctly, and the UI shows an effect after you discover it.

Update 6 corrected potion-effect stacking.
Matching crafted potions now share an inventory stack.
Update 7 added discovered effects to the alchemy UI.
How alchemy works in the current version
Fully featured system in the current Early Access description. The most useful current rules come from the first post-launch updates: alchemy shows the number remaining on active ingredients; identical crafted potions stack in the inventory, and potion effects stack correctly; alchemy experience gain was increased; and discovered alchemy effects now appear in the ui.
Those changes matter because launch-day advice can describe broken stacking or an older interface. Install Update 7 or later before judging whether a potion combination, inventory stack or learned effect is behaving correctly.
Potion stacking: effect stacks and inventory stacks are different
- Effect stackingPotion effects now stack correctly. The official notes do not publish a universal stack cap, duration rule or multiplier, so do not assume every effect follows one numerical formula.
- Inventory stackingIdentical crafted potions now stack in the inventory. That is a storage behavior; it does not by itself state how many active effects a character can carry.
If matching potions still occupy separate slots or a second potion does not apply as expected, confirm that your build includes Update 6 or a later patch before rebuilding the batch.
Use the alchemy UI to track what you have learned
- Check the remaining count shown for the active ingredient before committing it to an experiment.
- After an effect is discovered, look for that effect in the alchemy UI instead of relying on memory or an old external list.
- Treat any recipe list that does not identify its game version as provisional; the launch updates changed ingredient handling and effect display.
The current official material does not provide a complete ingredient-to-effect table. This page therefore explains the rules you can use now without presenting guessed recipes as a database.
There is no recipe calculator on this page because a calculator without dependable ingredient inputs would give you false combinations. Use the in-game discovered-effect display for ingredients that are not covered here.
Alchemy XP was increased, but no rate is published
Alchemy experience gain was increased. This confirms that current alchemy progression is faster than it was before Update 6, but the note gives no exact XP per potion, level curve or before-and-after percentage.
Use current in-game progress for planning a leveling session. Launch-week XP tables or calculators cannot be treated as current unless they identify a later build and show reproducible values.
Alchemy changes by version
- Hotfix 5Alchemy shows the number remaining on active ingredients. The patch also made some ingredients that could not be picked up collectible.
- Update 6Identical crafted potions stack in the inventory, and potion effects stack correctly. It also increased alchemy experience gain.
- Update 7Discovered alchemy effects now appear in the UI.

Alchemy and spell crafting use different stacking rules. Potion effects can stack, while identical spell effects do not. Read the current spell-crafting guide before planning both systems around the same assumption.
