Troubleshooting
Install Hotfix 10 before diagnosing a new slowdown.
Hotfix 10 fixes the performance regression introduced by Hotfix 9. Update 8 improves lower-end performance and low-VRAM texture protection; Update 7's shadow toggle and the Nvidia driver warning still matter.

Use this troubleshooting order
- Confirm Hotfix 10 is installedHotfix 10 fixed the performance regression introduced by Hotfix 9. Do this first if performance became worse after the August 24 patch chain.
- Frame rate is still too lowTry disabling shadows in video settings. The official note describes this as a significant performance improvement, while update 8 improved performance on lower-end systems. Neither note publishes a universal FPS gain.
- Shadow renderingUpdate 7 added an option to turn off shadows for significantly improved performance.
- Inventory memory useThe inventory-menu memory leak was fixed in Update 7.
- Crashing on an Nvidia GPUIf the driver is below version 600, update it first. The developer identified older Nvidia drivers as a crash source.
- Blurry or degraded texturesCheck whether the GPU has limited VRAM. Update 8 improved protection against texture loss on low-VRAM GPUs, but higher graphics settings may still expose the issue. Hotfix 5 had already fixed a VRAM leak linked to degraded textures.
- A laptop starts on the wrong GPUConfirm the game is using the dedicated GPU. Hotfix 4 fixed improper iGPU selection on some laptops after an earlier attempted fix.
- Slowdown around heavy effectsUpdate before comparing results: Hotfix 5 reduced effects on many spells and items, and Hotfix 4 toned down Brandbearer fire.
- Camera behavior changedHotfix 10 adds further camera improvements after the Hotfix 9 correction. If the camera still feels wrong, verify the build says Hotfix 10 before reporting it.
Check the official floor first
Steam lists 8 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 290 equivalent or better, and DirectX 12 as part of the minimum PC specification. Meeting that floor does not guarantee a published frame-rate target—the store does not provide one.
Current official fix chain
- Low-VRAM texture streamingUpdate 8 improved protection against texture loss on low-VRAM GPUs, but higher graphics settings may still expose the issue.
- Nvidia crashesThe game now warns when Nvidia drivers are below version 600 because older drivers were identified as a crash source.
- Laptop GPU selectionFixed improper iGPU selection on some laptops. The older Hotfix 1 attempt is retained in the version history.
- GPU texturesTexture issues on some GPUs were fixed.
- Visual effectsVisual effects were reduced on many spells and items. Hotfix 4 also toned down Brandbearer fire.
- VRAMA VRAM leak that caused degraded textures was fixed.
- MultiplayerSaving improved in Hotfix 1 and stability improved in Hotfix 4.
If the problem remains, collect a reproducible report
Confirm the build includes Hotfix 10 before relying on launch-day workarounds. Record your GPU model and driver, whether a laptop is using its integrated or dedicated GPU, Windows version, RAM and available VRAM, the current game/Hotfix version, solo or multiplayer state, location, and steps that reproduce the issue.
The official Early Access notice asks players to send feedback through the game's Discord or Steam Forums. The notes do not publish a universal manual fix, so this page does not prescribe registry, driver or save-file changes.
